Woolpit Health Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking Medical Receptionist to join our busy Reception Team. This role is ideal for those with healthcare experience or those looking to start a career in primary care.
The Medical Receptionist supports the clinical team by signposting patients to appropriate healthcare professionals or services and working as part of the multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists and mental health nurses. Responsibilities include handling patient interactions both face-to-face and by telephone, and providing administrative support to ensure the smooth daily operation of the Health Centre.
The successful candidate will be flexible, reliable, and capable of working under pressure, complementing our experienced team.
Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, with shifts including:
Monday: 8am - 5pm (30 min lunch)
Tuesday: 8am - 6.30pm (1 hr lunch)
Wednesday: 8am - 6.30pm (1 hr lunch)
Thursday: 8am - 1pm
Friday: 1pm - 6.30pm
Main duties include:
Providing effective reception services to patients and visitors
Handling enquiries and explaining surgery procedures
Answering calls and directing to appropriate clinicians
Managing patient appointments efficiently
Monitoring and processing requests alongside clinicians
Maintaining patient records accurately
Opening and locking the practice premises
Processing incoming mail
Taking and passing on messages accurately
Filing and retrieving paperwork and medical records
Assisting patients with digital platforms like NHS app and Anima
