Senior Therapy Support Worker- COTE, Band 4

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Senior Therapy Support Worker to join our integrated Care of the Elderly Therapy Team. The post holder will work alongside the rest of the Therapy team, to deliver a range of therapeutic interventions. The post holder will demonstrate autonomy in caseload management, delegation and deliver assessments and treatment plans. They will take an active role in planning and delivering training, supervisions and complete any necessary departmental admin tasks.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be positive, compassionate, flexible and work well as part of a team.
Core working hours are Monday - Friday, but you will be expected to work any shifts in operation, which may include weekends and public holidays.
Main duties of the job
* To use the principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in an integrated and client-centred way, to promote independence and facilitate safe discharge. This will be achieved by implementing delegated treatment plans and facilitating rehabilitation within agreed limitations through exercise, physical modalities and the use of occupation. To assess and manage delegated patients with mobility and occupational difficulties, reporting back to the registered practitioner as necessary.
* To support the teams with administration, clerical and housekeeping duties.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
* GCSE level C Maths and English EITHER completed or working towards completion of a relevant Foundation Science degree or equivalent OR NVQ level 3 or equivalent and experience/skills demonstrated through CPD to include clinical reasoning, appropriate attitudes & behaviours, initiative and leadership
* Proven experience as a physiotherapy or occupational therapy support worker working in the NHS or other care setting in the UK
* Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and non-verbal and written when interacting with staff, patients, relatives and carers
* Form professional relationships with clients who may need motivating and encouraging, in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture.
* Work flexibly in response to the changing demands of the service.
* Manage appropriately in difficult emotional or physical environments e.g. upset patients/relatives and difficult physical environments e.g. home circumstances
* Demonstrate an ability to act on own initiative when working independently in challenging environments.
* Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, with self-awareness of own knowledge and learning needs and ability to seek support appropriately.
* Valid UK Driving License
