Why this role matters

We are seeking a dynamic legal practitioner or former practitioner with a strong commitment to shaping the next generation of lawyers for admission. This role offers an opportunity to apply professional experience to the development of new lawyers through UNSW’s Graduate Diploma in Legal Professional Practice (GDLPP), the University’s Practical Legal Training (PLT) program. The position focuses on preparing graduates for professional life by connecting legal education directly to current practice. Working alongside practitioner mentors and industry partners, this role will support students’ development of practical skills, professional judgement and ethical awareness as they transition into the profession. It also includes the integration of work-integrated learning (WIL), AI-enhanced practice tools and practitioner-led mentoring to ensure UNSW’s PLT program remains a national leader in professional legal education. The Education Focused position sits within the School of Law, Society & Criminology in the Faculty of Law & Justice and will play a central role in delivering and coordinating PLT core and elective courses for both the general cohort and UNSW’s unique sponsored partnership model with top-tier law firms. The role reports to the Head of School for Law, Society & Criminology and has no direct reports.
