Based at Cannington College, the Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer plays a pivotal role in coordinating wellbeing support for students across the College, particularly at our Crockers site. UCS College Group (“UCS”) operates an Ofsted graded Outstanding provision for NEET and SEMH learners at Cannington College, within a dedicated and bespoke site known as Crockers. This specialised provision offers tailored and supported pathways for complex and vulnerable learners, enabling them to engage in education in a setting that meets their individual needs. The impact of this provision is both transformational for learners and highly beneficial to reducing risk and increasing positive contributions within the local community.
The provision at Crockers uses a highly practical and engaging curriculum to educate and re‑engage learners who may have experienced multiple exclusions, poor attendance, learning within an alternative provision, in the care of the local authority or who have been out of formal education for a significant period of time.
Working closely with the Safeguarding Team Leader, the Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer is responsible for triaging referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate support is provided, and maintaining a calm and effective approach under pressure.
This role is central to supporting students - particularly those from vulnerable groups - by addressing a wide range of issues that may affect their learning and overall college experience.
The Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer provides one-to-one and group guidance and mentoring, signposting students to internal services or external agencies, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment across the college group.
This is an exciting time to join a highly skilled and experienced team with an unprecedented track record of Ofsted Outstanding judgements
