Job Description

Senior Support Worker
* Location: Hereford
* Job Type: Full-time
* Salary: £14.50 Per Hour

Join a leading provider of behavioural services for children, where our vision is to inspire lives and continually develop not only the individuals in our care but also their families and communities. We are seeking a Senior Support Worker to assist in leadership and uphold our mission statement and values, ensuring the highest quality of support is consistently provided.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

* Assist in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
* Manage and support the staff team to meet the needs of the children and young people.
* Undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
* Ensure each shift is planned and resources are appropriately allocated.
* Work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
* Offer supervision and support to staff in line with National Minimum Standards as directed by leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure staff are aware of each child’s care plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
* Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve the best outcomes for young people.
* Maintain accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets, and files to enable regular monitoring and evaluation.
* Chair children’s meetings and facilitate consultation with young people.
* Develop routines in consultation with young people and staff concerning all aspects of child care.
* Ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards through appropriate reporting and recording systems.
* Provide supervisory control and direction related to staff duties and responsibilities.
* Identify and address individual training and development needs of staff.
* Assist in promoting personal and professional development through appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* Desire to work towards obtaining Diploma Level 3 in Children & Young People Workforce.
* Knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Children Act, and other relevant legislation.
* Minimum 12 months relevant supervisory experience.
* Excellent organisational and team-building skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Understanding the needs of BESD children including managing challenging behaviour.
