Senior Occupational Therapist (Band 6)
Join the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to work across Acute Stroke and Specialty Medicine in Worcester Royal Hospital. This Band 6 role covers maternity leave and offers a flexible working pattern.
Job Summary
Provide assessment, treatment and discharge planning for acute service patients. Lead clinical practice, supervise junior therapists and students, and support an integrated therapy team across sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Hold an active caseload within the rotational specialty, providing OT assessment and treatment.
* Guide and mentor band 5 occupational therapists, assistants and students.
* Support and teach junior staff, including clinical supervision and training.
* Work collaboratively with physiotherapy colleagues and other health professionals to promote integrated care.
* Attend and contribute to clinical and management meetings with accurate reporting.
* Maintain high professional standards, using evidence‑based practice and adhering to HCPC and RCOT guidelines.
* Implement risk assessment and practice safe manual handling, including transfer and equipment fitting.
* Participate in service improvement projects, audits and governance activities.
* Travel and work countywide, as required, including weekends and public holidays.
Requirements
Experience
* Varied acute NHS hospital experience.
* Administration and interpretation of standardised cognitive assessments.
* Manual handling assessment and provision of equipment.
* Early intervention and acute rehabilitation experience.
* Working in multidisciplinary team settings.
* Fast‑track discharge support.
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC registered.
* Post‑graduate training in related medicine or surgery (essential).
* Active HCPC registration (essential). Practice educator status and advanced leadership training are desirable.
