Job Title: Technical Safety Technical Authority
Specific Responsibilities
Technical Safety Technical Authority for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s EH&S family at the company’s Aberdeen office reporting to the EH&S Snr Manager.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
* Verification that technical decisions are in line with Apache and Industry standards.
* Ensure a safe and environmentally responsible operation, aligned to late life operating model, that supports Apache’s License to Operate
* Technical reviewer of discipline relevant Operational Risk Assessments (ORA’s).
* Owner of discipline specific relevant Apache Performance Standards ensuring they are relevant, up to date and being adhered to.
* Provide subject matter expertise support to discipline engineers.
* Provide discipline oversight of verification actions.
* Provide input / approval of management of change (MoC) for discipline.
* Assessment and approval of safety critical maintenance deferrals and backlog.
* SECE Performance Standard assurance and audit.
* Owner of discipline specific Apache procedures and guidance documents ensuring they are relevant, up to date and being adhered to.
* Owner of discipline specific Apache maintenance strategies, ensuring they are relevant and optimised through the asset life cycle.
* Provide subject matter expertise to root cause analysis investigations, where required.
* Technical appointment and competency verification of SECE responsible engineers.
* Communication of discipline risks to asset operations leadership, ensuring these are understood, formally assessed and mitigations put in place.
* Interface with Technical Safety to initiate measures to remove, reduce or mitigate technical safety risks
* Maintain awareness of industry guidance, legislation change and industry best practice through participation in industry working groups, ensuring learnings, where appropriate, is applied.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
* Engineering Honours Degree
* Chartered Engineer and member of a recognized professional body
* Extensive experience in similar roles within the oil and gas industry
* Relevant technical training across specific disciplines
* Proven and demonstrable leadership experience in a technical safety role
* Knowledge of the UK regulatory regime
* Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
