Librarian - Role Overview As the School Librarian, you will play an essential role in supporting learning, literacy, and independent study. Duties include: Managing the day-to-day running of the school library. Supporting students with research, reading choices, and independent study. Issuing, returning, and cataloguing books and resources. Maintaining an organised, welcoming library environment. Promoting reading through displays, clubs, events, and literacy initiatives. Managing stock levels, ordering new resources, and maintaining the library catalogue. Providing support to teaching staff for research and curriculum resources. Supervising students in the library during break, lunch, and study periods. Ensuring all information is handled confidentially and in line with school policies. Requirements Previous experience in a library, education, or admin role (school library experience desirable). Strong organisation and record-keeping skills. Excellent communication and ability to engage positively with young people. Confident using library systems, databases, or willing to learn. A proactive, calm, and supportive attitude.
