Trainee Recovery Support Worker : HMP Onley 12-month fixed-term contract

We are recruiting for a Trainee Recovery Support Worker at HMP Onley.
Here at Forward Trust, we deliver a range of drug and alcohol services within the prison environment. Our support includes advice, health and wellbeing, motivational work, clinical services, and various group work and treatment programs.
The services we provide in prisons are commissioned by NHS England and delivered in partnership with healthcare providers and HMPPS. Integration and partnership are key to our work.

Roles and Responsibilities
As a Forward Trust trainee, you will be employed on a fixed 12-month contract. The traineeship aims to provide training and development to facilitate future employment. We prioritize recruiting individuals with lived experience into these roles. During the traineeship, you will be supported and given opportunities to develop skills and gain experience for permanent roles at the end of the program. All trainees will be enrolled in an accredited training program funded by Forward Trust.
You will shadow team members and receive guidance and support to perform various role aspects. The team will ensure you receive the necessary training and development to become competent. Regular reviews will be conducted to monitor your progress, and external supervision will be provided. Part of your traineeship will involve working, gaining practical experience, and studying towards an assigned qualification (subject to criteria).
All prison-based roles require an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS security vetting, which can take 3-6 weeks. Offers are contingent upon clearance.
Checks will include:
* Personal, financial, police, and criminal history information
* Family details (parents, partners, siblings, children)
* Co-residents
* Associations that may conflict with the role or prison service
* Background checks via police information systems
* Credit reference checks
* Social media and open-source checks
* Other government or overseas agency checks
The Ideal Candidate
* If in recovery: over 2 years abstinence and a commitment to maintain recovery
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults, with experience of offending or homelessness
* Commitment to equal opportunity and client confidentiality principles
* Ability to manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and targets
* Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries
* Good organizational and communication skills
