This position is responsible for leading the Corporate Estate Management Team within the wider estate team. You will report to the Head of Estates and manage a team of property surveyors and support staff. We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the strategic asset management program for the portfolio, ensuring compliance with property legislation and statutes, and managing estates effectively to maximize occupation, best practices, value for money, and financial efficiency.
The role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on varied property types across Great Britain. You will support the team in all property-related matters, including disposals, acquisitions, landlord-tenant issues, and contract management of agents acting on DVSA’s behalf.
The successful candidate will need to travel to estate locations as required.

The Head of Corporate Estate Management is responsible for delivering DVSA’s strategic asset management, ensuring the estate complies with property legislation and statutes, and is managed effectively to maximize occupation, best practices, value for money, and financial efficiency. The post holder will provide professional leadership, support, advice, and guidance, supporting the delivery of DVSA’s Estates Strategy and government initiatives.
This role manages approximately 400 properties across England, Scotland, and Wales, aligning estate management with the agency’s business needs. The post holder will provide expert advice, lead property-related projects, and collaborate with wider estate teams.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Providing expert advice, support, and challenge to DVSA Directors, managers, and budget holders on commercial surveying matters.
2. Leading the completion and writing of Business Cases.
3. Presenting to the Estates Delivery Board and Investment Committee.
4. Maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships, including liaising with Cabinet Office, the Department for Transport, and other agencies regarding property issues.
5. Ensuring effective liaison with relevant stakeholders, including front-line services and estate teams.
6. Managing capital and revenue budgets for rents, service charges, business rates, consultancy budgets, and lease costs.
7. Providing advice on valuation reports, acquisition proposals, dilapidations, and disposal reports, and determining appropriate strategies.
8. Leading the Estates Team’s contribution to DVSA’s key targets and business goals.
