Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a leading supplier of maritime technology based in Newcastle, who are seeking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer within their Offshore Energy Product group. This role is full-time and permanent, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and successful delivery of bespoke Engineering projects across a variety of markets including pipelay, handling systems, subsea technology and defence equipment, focusing on the design of Remotely Operated Vehicles.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out design on remotely operated vehicles, using understanding of basic mechanics, hand calculations, analysis packages (Ansys, Staad Pro), CAD software packages (Inventor, AutoCAD)
* Take ownership of design authority to ensure successful delivery of projects, within a specified time frame and budget to specification and quality standards.
* Ensure compliance with design practices/guidelines, providing input to continuous improvement activities.
Experience:
* Experienced working in a multi-discipline design environment and able to share ideas within the team.
* In depth knowledge and experience in design and manufacture of some, or all the following: ROVs, Cable/Pipe lay, Trenchers, and bespoke Onshore and Offshore equipment.
* Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to the project Engineering team day-to-day. Ensuring that Engineers have clear project deliverables and technical direction.
* Relevant, and up-to-date knowledge of technologies and engineering design techniques.
* Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving with experience of making key decisions throughout the project from concept design through the sea trials).
* Able to produce high quality work under pressure.
* In depth knowledge of Engineering design and associated techniques including basic mechanics, hand calculations, analysis packages (Ansys, Staad Pro), CAD software packaged (Inventor, AutoCAD).
