Job Title: Assistant Head Teacher
About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Head Teacher to join our SEN School in Grantham. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made, acting as the central point of contact and expert source for all safeguarding matters, and providing advice and support.
Main Responsibilities:
Ensure safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made
Act as the central point of contact and expert source for all safeguarding matters, providing advice and support, managing concerns and referrals and promoting a culture of safety
Complete regular peer reviews on teaching staff to ensure consistent and high standards of work
Schedule and complete half-termly supervisions with the teaching team
Plan and prepare lessons, delivering effective teaching
Meet the emotional and physical needs of our young people and maximize opportunities for their development
Ensure that equality and diversity is followed and encouraged
Ensure that good quality records are maintained and progress monitored
Ensure that students experience an educational program that is personalised to the particular needs identified through a robust assessment system
Carry out duties as identified in the Teacher Standards
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
QTS qualification
Experience as acting as a DSL or holding a key role within a safeguarding team
SEND experience
The ability to provide leadership to the teaching team, enabling them to develop outstanding outcomes for our learners
Contribution to the educational and social development of each young person
The ability to form effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies
To ensure that young people's views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate
Ensure that appropriate resources and environment exist for individual pupils referred to the service, and that opportunity for inclusion are available to all our students
To contribute to the relevant sections of the self-evaluation
To liaise with other teachers and teaching assistants in the team to ensure effective deployment of resources
To develop and to meet the needs of the school
