About the role
We have an opening for a Specialist CAMHS Health and Justice Team practitioner for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role involves working with young people who have offended or are at risk of offending within West Berkshire, managing your own caseload, completing risk assessments and supporting caseworkers and the youth.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality mental health service to young people known to Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham YJTs.
* Provide specialist assessment and therapy, offer consultation on clients’ care to non‑clinical colleagues and other carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the team’s policies.
* Work in a trauma‑informed way, facilitating and collaborating in multi‑agency formulation meetings, devising interventions and offering ongoing supervision and coaching to professionals.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of clinical practice within the YJTs.
* Utilise research skills to contribute to audit, policy and service development and propose and implement policy changes within the area served by the team.
Qualifications & requirements
* Recognised professional registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC) and core qualification.
* Demonstrable experience working in Children and Young People’s mental health services.
* Experience working with complex mental health needs.
* Experience with forensic or justice settings preferred.
* Band 6 or Band 7 level.
