About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Horticulture Team Leader to lead our horticultural team at Newlands Bishop Farm, which is a unique care and training environment for adults with learning and physical disabilities. You'll manage growing schemes, retail operations, and workshops, while creating meaningful work experiences for our Project Workers.
As Horticulture Team Leader, you'll take charge of our nursery and retail unit, overseeing seasonal growing schemes, public workshops, and income-generating contracts. You'll lead a small team, support adults with learning disabilities, and ensure safe, well-organised workspaces. A consistent presence across the working week is essential to maintain continuity and meet operational needs.
We're looking for someone with solid horticultural experience and a practical, compassionate approach. You'll thrive in this role if you:
· Have strong plant knowledge and experience managing growing schemes and retail operations.
· Can confidently lead a team and mentor adults with learning disabilities.
· Are commercially minded, with experience in budgeting, contracts, and public engagement.

· Understand the importance of safeguarding, health and safety, and inclusive practice.
What You'll Bring
Essential:
· Level 2 qualification in Horticulture (Level 3 Desirable)
· Experience managing a horticultural retail unit
· Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities
· Strong plant knowledge and seasonal planning skills
· Team leadership and staff supervision experience
· Confident using Excel, Word, and internal systems
· Full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
· Commitment to safeguarding, including DBS and COVID-19 compliance
Desirable:
· Workshop facilitation and contract management experience
· Comfortable working with volunteers

Pay & Benefits
· Pay is at £13.73 per hour for weekdays. 12.5% premium per hour for weekends and bank holidays.
· If you are required to travel during working hours, we pay at £0.45 per mile, and travel time is paid within contracted or overtime hours.
· Enrolment is automatic for the People Pension scheme where the Trust pays a contribution of 3%, the tax authorities pay 1%, and the employee pays 4% of the gross earnings.
· Annual leave starts at 22 days plus 8 bank holidays pro-rata, rising to 25 days plus 8 bank holidays pro rata after three years of service.
· Life assurance is set to two times your contracted salary.
· The trust pays up to £500 for referring a friend who completes a six-month probationary period and another £250 after a further six months.
