Job Summary
Patient Services Booking Clerk at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. Permanent, 37.5 hours per week with 9am‑5pm and 10am‑6pm shifts. Salary £25,760–£27,476 per annum.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative and operational booking services for elective surgery admissions.
* Manage and maintain the Trust surgery waiting list and theatre lists.
* Assist the team leader with day‑to‑day department management, escalating issues during booking.
* Ensure all patients are approved for surgery before arranging admission dates.
* Handle difficult conversations, including cancelling scheduled admissions on short notice.
* Validate waiting lists regularly and maintain accurate records.
* Support the management of all trust waiting lists to meet targets and prevent delays.
* Prepare theatre lists and admissions for individual consultants.
* Identify patients from waiting list reports, assess suitability, and input details into Lorenzo and ORMIS systems.
* Coordinate online assessment requests and ensure completion before pre‑op appointments.
* Make telephone calls where patients cannot complete online assessments.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years of administrative experience.
* Knowledge of patient pathways.
* Experience of autonomous working.
* 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
* Willingness to complete relevant training and courses.
Desirable
* Experience in a healthcare setting.
* Working knowledge of medical terminology.
* CLAIT, ECDL, NVQ Business Administration or Customer Services Skills Level 2, or equivalent.
