What you will be doing:
1. Promote the University’s contract and collaborative research, consultancy, training capabilities and partnership opportunities to external stakeholders, with emphasis on regional, national and international companies, the public sector including NHS bodies and local authorities.
2. Working closely with the Head of Business Engagement lead the implementation of key elements of the University’s Research, Innovation and Knowledge Mobilisation Strategy relating to the Institute’s strategic engagement, collaborative innovation and economic growth.
3. Create and manage internal networks with academics and other staff and support them through commercially funded projects to ensure a professional and efficient response to external organisations from initial enquiry to project delivery.
4. Manage business development staff within the Institute, initially a Business Development Officer.
5. Advise teams delivering collaborative projects, sharing knowledge of appropriate procedures and processes for ensuring consistent successful and professional delivery.
Qualifications/ experience:
6. Level 6 or equivalent, or equivalent demonstrable experience in engineering management or science subjects
7. Demonstrable experience of business development activities
8. Experience of working in a commercially focused environment
