We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse, Category B men's prison and young offenders institution based in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool in Merseyside. Ideal applicants would be experienced general practitioners who have previous experience prescribing for and supporting patients with substance misuse needs. HMP Altcourse is a fast paced environment you will be working closely with a full multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality patient care.

Hours

This is a bank role with flexibility to work shifts between 8am-9.30pm.


Salary

This position is a bank role on an hourly rate of £85 per hour.

Main duties of the job

* Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn't usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
* Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required

* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications


Job description

As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate inline with guidelines and pathways. Including prescribing for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.

You will;

Provide medical leadership and expert advice, regarding medical and primary care issues to the wider healthcare team; engaging with the Practice Plus Group wellbeing approach

Deliver effective patient care developing high levels of communication with patients; identifying and utilising evidence based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines. Undertaking appropriate clinical audit to improve clinical outcomes

Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team; working with the wider team to ensure effective clinical governance is incorporated into day to day practice

Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems and processes in place for managing results, letters, and tasks. Undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risks

Share and disseminate acquired knowledge with all team members through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or clinical case reviews


About you

* MBChB or MBBS

* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse

* Ability to develop evidence based best practice
* Excellent IT skills
* Ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships
