About The Role
Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering (Education and Scholarship) – Fixed term post available from 1st September 2026 for a period of three years.
Salary will be £43,482 per annum on Grade F for the Lecturer level and £50,253 per annum on Grade G for the Senior Lecturer level, subject to knowledge, skills and experience.
The Role

We are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology to support the delivery of the Geology & Mining Programmes at Camborne School of Mines.
The post will include responsibility for the design, development and production of teaching and learning material and delivery across a range of modules, fieldwork and mine study tours at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, within the areas of mining & exploration geology.
About you – Lecturer
* Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, typically demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent, to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning;
* Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
* Participate in and develop external networks, e.g., to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
* Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond own teaching;
About you – Senior Lecturer
* Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD in a related area or equivalent, of the core knowledge relating to Geotechnical Engineering and/or Engineering Geology in order to teach and support learning on related modules;
* Have a consistent track record of excellent teaching across a variety of modules and levels within your discipline, as might be expected of a very experienced HE Teacher;
* Contribute to the design, development and delivery of a range of modules or programmes at various levels; applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques; identifying sources of funding and securing funds for own scholarly activities and providing academic leadership to those working within programme areas.
