An opportunity has arisen for an interim Modern Matron to cover maternity leave in the Forensic Division.
This role covers a broad range of quality, safety and patient experience, and the right candidate will have substantial experience of clinical and professional nursing leadership. Skills in risk assessment and management are key.

Main duties of the job
The interim Modern Matron will be:
* Accountable for the high‑quality nursing services to clients in the forensic inpatient units
* Responsible for a highly complex case load of patients with complex long‑term physical and/or mental health needs
* Accountable for nurse‑led in‑patient admissions and discharges
* To work in partnership with operational managers, professional leads and other colleagues
* Able to demonstrate advanced clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re. clinical developments, delivery and co‑ordination of the highest quality care in collaboration with service users, carers, staff, managers and other agencies, appropriate to the service area
* Be responsible for compliance with, and development of, clinical policies, procedures and guidelines, including case management and co‑ordinating care in an inpatient setting

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Educated to Masters Level or Masters level equivalent Post Graduate modules plus significant advanced knowledge/experience
* Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental health Act code of practice, RCP standards for forensic mental health service, NHS England culture of care standards for inpatient services, National
* Evidence of professional development work that has impacted on practice and demonstrates a higher level of communication/planning/change, that impacts beyond own area of work
Experience
* Evidence of sound post‑registration professional practice
* Ability to work across organisational boundaries, developing and maintaining multi‑professional and multi‑agency partnerships
* A breadth of clinical practice including clinically specialising in the field where the post is held
Skills and competencies
* Effective communication skills at all levels – strategically and locally
* Sound experience/knowledge of Trust policies and procedures in order to effectively lead and manage others
