An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 2-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop the next generation of nanomechanical testing equipment through the the embedding of advanced electronics and software engineering.

Employed and supported by a team of academic experts from Manchester Metropolitan University, this post will be based at Micro Materials Ltd's premises in Wrexham. This is an opportunity to join Micro Materials on a ground-breaking project to embed knowledge within the business and to build for the future with a view to leading a department within the business in the long term.

Qualification We Require
A good honours degree (1st or 2:1) in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering, or a similar discipline (an MSc or equivalent experience is desirable) with substantial experience in signal processing and control.

Application Requirements
High level expertise in analogue and digital circuit design and simulation; Experience working on design software tools such as DesignSpark, Eagle, etc.; Solid experience in signal processing and filter design; Expert knowledge of embedded system design (using FPGA and/or microcontrollers); Knowledge of low-level and high-level programming languages (e.g., C and Python); Experience in working with mechatronic systems. The following is desirable: Experience with National Instruments software; Familiarity with database systems such as mySQL, JavaScript etc; Knowledge of nano-mechanics, tribology or surface engineering; Previous experience in conducting high quality academic research.

Personal Attributes
Leadership and ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders in the business; Good command of written and spoken English; Strong time management skills and the ability to self-motivate; Must be able to work to deadlines alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks.

£2,000 per year to spend on personal training; attendance at two residential managerial workshops (each of one week's duration); opportunity to register on a higher degree (at a reduced cost); opportunity to work with a strong team of academics; opportunity of a permanent position with the company; 70% of host companies make a permanent job offer to their Associate at the end of the project.
