Vacancy Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA) as an Engineering Training Instructor at Hinkley Point C (HPC), where we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
The NSA develops and delivers training in areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineering, Operations, Radiological Protection, Safety Rules, Chemistry, Fuel Route & Environment.
The successful candidate will develop and deliver the Engineering Programme and support other technical programmes as needed. They must be mobile to deliver training where required, ensuring personnel have the necessary initial knowledge to perform their roles effectively. The job holder must ensure accuracy of material, adherence to training standards/procedures, and excellence in delivery quality.
Principle Accountabilities
As a Training Instructor in the NSA, you will impact organizational performance through quality training, supporting the NSA skills pool to meet business needs. You will work closely with HPC personnel to facilitate effective knowledge transfer and develop your skills.
The key duties include:
1. The development and delivery of training material in one or more key areas
2. Supporting training in classroom or workshop settings, coaching and mentoring trainees
3. Acting as course coordinator for responsible training areas
4. Leading and delivering training to groups of 1 to 20, depending on the subject and environment
5. Communicating with line managers to develop team competence
6. Maintaining relationships with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts for material development
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* HNC or higher qualification in a relevant technical subject or equivalent experience
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to adapt to latest technology
* Effective team functioning
* Technical problem-solving skills
* Mentoring and influencing skills
* Mobility for training delivery away from HPC
Desirable:
* Knowledge of training processes
* Experience in power generation or related industry
* Familiarity with modern learning methods and media
* Knowledge of Vision training tool
* Recognized teaching/training qualification
* Customer and stakeholder relations experience
