ASD Learning Support Assistant (Primary)
Location: UB7 Area
Pay: £109 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Day-to-day / Short-term with the opportunity to progress to a full-time, permanent position
Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and caring ASD Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist primary setting in the UB7 area. The school supports children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated needs, providing a calm, structured, and nurturing environment.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Graduates with the right attitude, enthusiasm, and commitment are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Support children with ASD in classroom and one-to-one settings.
* Help pupils access learning activities and develop independence.
* Use visual aids, communication tools, and structured routines to aid engagement.
* Support with personal care needs, including toileting, dressing, and hygiene, where required.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver tailored support.
* Encourage emotional regulation, social interaction, and confidence.
Person Specification
Essential:
* A caring, patient, and reliable approach to working with children.
* Genuine interest in supporting pupils with autism and additional needs.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility and willingness to learn
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a school or SEN setting.
* Graduate in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
* Familiarity with communication systems such as PECS or Makaton (training provided).
