Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Manager to work full-time within the Out of Hours Team (EDT) based in Haringey. This role is critical in ensuring a responsive and effective social work service outside of normal working hours, dealing with urgent child protection, adult safeguarding, and crisis interventions.
The successful candidate will oversee a team of highly skilled social workers who provide emergency social care support across children’s and adult services, ensuring timely assessments and interventions to protect vulnerable individuals. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced leader with a strong background in emergency social work, safeguarding, and crisis management.
Main responsibilities:
* Oversee the team’s management, ensuring that the service provided meets the highest professional standards and complies with legal requirements, as well as corporate and national priorities.
* Take responsibility for all tasks within the team, ensuring they are prioritised and assigned efficiently within available resources.
* Maintain high standards of record-keeping within the team, ensuring managerial decisions are documented accurately and in a timely manner, in line with relevant frameworks.
* Lead various practice meetings, such as strategy meetings and core group meetings, while overseeing the progress of assigned tasks for all attendees.
* Provide regular, high-quality, constructive, and reflective supervision for staff, ensuring this is carried out within agreed timeframes and in accordance with departmental policies.
* Assess staff performance by conducting probation reviews, appraisals, managing sickness absences, and implementing other relevant procedures as necessary.
* Support staff learning and development by encouraging practice learning within the team and providing post-qualification training for registered social workers and managers.
Requirements of the Team Manager:
* Qualification: A degree or diploma in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
* Experience: Proven experience in child protection and statutory social work, particularly in conducting parenting capacity assessments. Experience in court report writing and multi-agency working is essential.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance, and the Adoption and Children Act 2002. Knowledge of attachment theory, child development, and family dynamics is crucial.
* Skills: Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong written skills for report writing and case documentation.
* Other: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
