Overview
Senior Occupational Therapist role at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, based at County Hospital, Stafford. The post is within the Therapies Directorate.
Responsibilities
* The post rotates across a variety of specialist inpatient and outpatient areas, including:
* Palliative Care — oncology/renal conditions, fast-track discharge planning, and complex manual handling assessments & equipment provision; managing long-term life-limiting conditions and challenging conversations.
* Frail Elderly — frailty management, patients with dementia, falls management, complex discharge planning.
* Emergency Portals — rapid decision making related to discharge planning and equipment provision & admission avoidance; work across A+E and same-day discharge wards.
* Medicine — wide range of medical conditions including Non-Invasive Ventilation, MND, Cardiology & post-Critical Care Step-down; complex discharge planning; seating and wheelchair knowledge.
* Orthopaedics — input to elective orthopaedics supporting complex discharges at County Hospital.
Qualifications
* Essential — Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy; Registered with HCPC
* Desirable — CPD relevant to the specialist area
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* Minimum of 18 months post-graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist
* Experience of audits
* Experience of supporting/supervising staff
Desirable
* Experience gained within an acute NHS setting
* Experience of the relevant specialty area
* Trained clinical educator

* Acts to support and enable effective teamwork
