Prospero Teaching are seeking a patient, structured, and encouraging GCSE English Tutor to provide face-to-face tuition for a highly motivated learner in the Bognor Regis area. This individual is preparing to retake their AQA English GCSE next summer and is committed to achieving a pass to progress onto their next steps.
About the Role:
Location: Bognor Regis (in-person tuition only)
Schedule: Every Tuesday from 10am or later, for 2 hours per week
Focus: AQA GCSE English - exam preparation, comprehension, and extended writingThe learner benefits from clear, literal instruction and structured support. They require help with understanding exam questions-particularly interpreting what is being asked-and developing responses for higher-mark questions.
As a Tutor, you will:
Delivering focused, engaging sessions tailored to the AQA curriculum
Supporting comprehension and exam technique, especially for extended writing
Building confidence and helping the learner develop strategies to approach questions effectively
Collaborating with carers who are present during sessions and can offer helpful insights and strategiesAbout you:
Experienced in tutoring GCSE English (AQA), ideally with knowledge of supporting learners with literal thinking styles
Able to provide structured, clear, and consistent guidance
Sensitive to individual learning needs and able to adapt teaching methods accordingly

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people as a TA, 1:1, Cover Supervisor, LSA, Teacher, Tutor, Mentor, Youth Worker or another related field- ESSENTIAL
Experience of working with learners with SEN/ SEMH needs- ESSENTIAL
Experience of working with English GCSE studentd and content- ESSENTIALTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
