Simply Education is seeking an experienced Teacher to join an established team at an alternative provision in Northampton. The position involves teaching KS3 and KS4 students across various subjects, supporting pupils who are currently not in formal education, at risk of exclusion, or unable to meet their potential in their current setting.
About the school:
This small setting caters to approximately 35 pupils aged 13-16 who have experienced negative life impacts and need a boost in self-esteem and confidence. The school aims to change students’ mindsets and facilitate their return to mainstream education. The team includes the Head of School, Deputy Head, up to seven teachers, five support staff, and additional support from the wider group.
Role of a Teacher in an Alternative Provision:
This role requires adaptability to new environments and learning styles. You should be enthusiastic about teaching different subjects and supporting students who have become disengaged or display challenging behaviour. A passion for fostering a love of learning, embracing diversity, and encouraging students to think beyond traditional methods is essential.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or willingness to work towards it
* Proven track record of raising attainment, supporting behavioural challenges, and providing high levels of pastoral care
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum and experience teaching various subjects
* Ability to develop pupils’ confidence, language, behaviour, and social skills between ages 13-16
* Enthusiasm for alternative education methodologies
* Understanding of working with students with SEND and SEMH needs
* Understanding of behaviour patterns in students with complex needs and trauma
