Trainee Conductor – Manchester Airport
There's more to this job than checking tickets. It's about creating rapport with customers and acting as the face of our business. With a combination of classroom and practical training, you can progress to a Qualified Conductor in around three months.
As a conductor, you need to know your routes, rules, issuing tickets, honouring rail cards, dealing with delays, and handling other potential problems that can be distressing for customers. We'll teach you what you need to know, but during those times, the quality of your customer service, communication skills, and dedication will be truly tested.
Confident in your decision-making and able to work under pressure, you'll be prepared for every challenge. This role involves working irregular hours, so flexibility is essential.
If you're ready for training, flexible with your working hours, and enjoy responsibilities and engaging with people, then this role is ideal for you.
We offer an attractive salary of £35,213 per annum once qualified. During training, you'll receive £26,960 per annum. Benefits include a final salary pension scheme, discounts on rail travel (free TransPennine Express journeys for you and free leisure journeys for your family), and discounts with other train operators. Additional benefits include discounts, a Cycle to Work scheme, and more.
Due to safety responsibilities, applicants must:
* Not have defective colour vision or have undergone laser eye surgery
* Be willing to work irregular and unsociable shift patterns
* Live within a 60-minute commute of the location (proof may be required)
* Be over 18 years old
* Pass a drug and alcohol screening and meet medical requirements
How to apply?
Complete an online application and questions. Successful applicants will undergo psychometric testing, followed by a face-to-face interview. If successful, you'll proceed to a medical examination and drug/alcohol screening to ensure you can safely perform the role.
