An opportunity is available for a Craftsperson (Jointing) based in Derby.
In this role, you will be required to undertake jointing techniques up to 66kV, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement, and fault location on LV cables.
Candidates must have Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSEs in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level qualifications in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will ideally have underground experience. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not possess all the skills required but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.
If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to study for the relevant City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and complete TAR, which includes daily diary page completion, and various tasks and reports.
You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, make on-the-spot decisions, and work to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential, as you may be required to undertake other duties to help the team meet its objectives. Additionally, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as standby duties may be required.
*Please note that the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are completed.
