We seek an experienced Band 6 nurse to be a core member of the multidisciplinary team, involved in assessments, care planning, treatment, and support for individuals with drug and alcohol issues, promoting health, independence, and recovery.
Main duties of the job
Discharge responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005), NMC Code of Conduct, and SLaM commitments. Manage a caseload reflecting local priorities, conduct assessments, develop evidence-based care plans, set standards, and liaise with other agencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Complete risk assessments and management plans, safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
* Offer BBV testing, treatment, and naloxone at first contact.
* Implement recovery-based care plans collaboratively with service users.
* Develop joint working with various health and social care services.
* Participate in training, mandatory courses, and duty rotas.
* Respect individual differences and uphold professional standards.
* Lead clinical management within a multidisciplinary team.
* Coordinate and monitor person-centered care, utilizing complex decision-making.
* Deliver therapies, including CBT, and provide physical and emotional care.
* Supervise junior staff and students, contribute to service standards, audits, and governance.
* Participate in recruitment and potentially undertake additional tasks across sites.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with substantial post-qualification experience, particularly with substance misuse and harm reduction.
* Continued professional development relevant to substance misuse and harm reduction.
* Willingness to pursue NMP qualification if not already obtained.
* Diploma or degree in addictions or related fields (e.g., CBT, dual diagnosis).
* Non-Medical Prescriber and Mentorship qualifications.
Experience
* Proven ability in report writing, policy development, supervision, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Experience working in community settings and with complex needs clients.
* Phlebotomy training.
Knowledge / Skills
* Understanding harm reduction, injecting behavior, safer sexual practices, and interventions for stimulant use and PIEDs.
* Strong assessment, engagement, negotiation, and organizational skills.
* Ability to adapt to rapid changes, work autonomously, and evaluate care outcomes.
* IT proficiency in clinical documentation and reporting.
* Experience in supervising staff and delivering training.
