Occupational Therapy Assistant: Adults, Health & Communities - Adult Social Services
Location: Haringey N22
Salary: £23.71 UMB per hour (£17.54 PAYE)
Contract: Full time - 36 hours per week - initially 12 weeks - potential to extend
Support independence. Change lives. We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the London Borough of Haringey in their Adult Social Services team. This is a rewarding frontline role where you will support adults with physical disabilities to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes and communities. Working under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist, you will carry out assessments, recommend equipment and adaptations, and provide practical advice and support that makes a real difference to people7s everyday lives.
Responsibilities
* Assess the functional abilities, strengths and needs of adults with physical disabilities
* Support service users to set person-centred goals that promote independence and wellbeing
* Assess for and recommend equipment and minor/major home adaptations to reduce risk and improve daily living
* Carry out carers' assessments and reviews, recognising and supporting the needs of informal carers
* Provide advice, guidance and practical support using strengths-based and evidence-informed approaches
* Identify safeguarding concerns, complete basic risk assessments and refer appropriately
* Maintain accurate, timely case records using council IT systems (including Mosaic)
* Manage your own caseload effectively, prioritising work to meet service targets
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies including health, housing and voluntary services
About you / Qualifications
* Experience working with people with disabilities (paid or unpaid)
* A good understanding of how disability impacts individuals and their independence
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive professional relationships
* The ability to work independently, manage your workload and meet deadlines
* Good IT skills and confidence with case recording systems
* A commitment to equal opportunities, safeguarding and person-centred practice
* A driving licence and the ability to speak an additional community language are desirable but not essential.
