Process Innovation Team
You could be part of the innovation, research, & technology that guides the global Food and Drink industry. Campden BRI provides science, technology and innovation support to the food and drink industry. Our Process Innovation Team supports our members and clients with consultancy, project work, and training activities in thermal processing, including process development, validation, and optimisation. This encompasses heating (e.g., cooking, pasteurisation, sterilisation) and cooling (chilling and freezing) processes.
Due to the work they do, there's an exciting travel element to this role—UK, Europe, and globally! Expenses paid work trips across the globe; recent trips include Turkey, Iceland, Jamaica, South Africa, Italy, and Spain.

Position
We are looking for a Chemical Engineering graduate to join our Thermal Processing Team. You will manage and deliver scientific and technical projects for our thermal processing clients, focusing on the validation of thermal processes. The role involves consultancy, training, and research activities within a close-knit team. Developing process validation and engineering services for our clients will also be part of your responsibilities.
Responsibilities include:
* Visiting multiple food & drink manufacturing sites to gain insights into various processes, equipment, and practices.
* Supporting technical projects, including validation work, consultancy, or training, both offsite and at Campden.
* Contributing to thermal processing research projects.
* Interpreting data and results for inclusion in client reports.
* Managing equipment and records for contract work, including maintenance, calibration, and stock management.
* Responding to technical enquiries from clients.
* Preparing project proposals and tenders.
* Using data trackers and heat mapping to monitor thermal temperatures and identify cold spots.
Requirements
* Chemical Engineering graduate.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Skills in report writing and data analysis.
* Effective time management skills.
* Full UK/EU driving licence, own transport, and ability to travel worldwide.
* Keen interest in the food industry, including heat-preserved and chilled/frozen sectors.
* Self-driven, motivated, inquisitive, and passionate about technical excellence.
* Ability to work independently and within a team.
* Good knowledge of MS Office.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 8:45 am - 5:15 pm (4:30 pm finish on Fridays).
