Chef de Partie: full time
Location: Norwich city centre
Are you ready for a career-defining challenge? Do you want to learn from the best, work in one of the most exciting venues in Norfolk, and become part of the busiest, most talked-about kitchen in the county?
Then welcome to The Assembly House: Norwich's iconic Georgian gem, home to thousands of Afternoon Teas, show-stopping weddings, and a reputation for excellence. This isn't just another chef job, this is your chance to level up, learn, and thrive alongside industry leaders.
Why this role is different:
You won't just be joining a kitchen, you'll be joining a dream team, led by Executive Chef Julia Hetherton and Head of Pastry Mark Mitson. Julia and Mark are both at the very top of their game, with decades of experience between them in world-class hotels and restaurants. Working alongside them is like stepping into the premier league of hospitality.
This is a role where you'll:
* Cook for the crowds: 1,000 to 2,500 afternoon teas each week, plus breakfasts, lunches, events and weddings that are the stuff of legend.
* Be part of history: The Assembly House has stood for centuries, and today it's the beating heart of Norwich's dining scene.
* Feel the buzz: The adrenaline of service in a kitchen this busy is second to none. We're talking fast-paced, high-energy, and incredibly rewarding.
What we're NOT looking for:
Tweezers and fuss: If your dream job is tiny portions and precision plating, this isn't it. We care about flavour, consistency, and speed of service.
Job-hoppers: We want chefs who'll grow with us, not just pass through.
What we CAN offer you:
Brilliant hours: Around 42.5 per week, straight shifts, and very few late nights (finishes rarely later than 10pm to Christmas is the exception).
Balance: Yes, we're busy, but you'll still have a life outside the kitchen.
Top-notch kit: Everything works. No bodging, no excuses.
Rewards: Bonuses, gratuities, and free staff meals.
Growth: Proper training, progression opportunities, and the chance to shine.
Support: A kind, caring team culture. We're tough on standards, but never on each other.
Who we're looking for:
Dependable chefs who want to be part of a close-knit team.
Positive team players who enjoy the buzz of service and thrive on busy days.
Ambitious food lovers who want to learn from the best and help us maintain our 5-star reputation.
The deal:
Salary: £12.50 to £13.50 per hour (reviewed after trial period)
Full-time, approx. 42.5 hours per week
Over 18s only
