Project Assistant Salary & Grade £32,380 per annum (pay award pending) Grade 5 Location Wellington House, Leeds / Hybrid Hours Full time 37 hours per week Tenure Permanent Please note that the Combined Authority will consider requests for part-time working and/or job share. We currently have a Project Assistant vacancy to join our Home Energy West Yorkshire team. This team is part of the Policing, Environment & Place directorate. This is your chance to play a crucial role in transforming West Yorkshire’s social housing landscape while contributing to major environmental objectives. Domestic housing in West Yorkshire is responsible for over 26% of our region’s carbon emissions and over 600,000 houses need to be retrofitted with good quality insulation and renewable sources of energy. This will reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, reduce fuel bills for the residents, alleviate fuel poverty, and make people’s homes more comfortable and healthier. If you’re eager, high-performing and willing to take on a challenge and make a lasting difference, we’d love to hear from you! Home Energy West Yorkshire is a dynamic and rapidly growing service area, established to tackle the pressing challenges of domestic retrofit. With a mission to promote, facilitate, and deliver retrofit solutions across all housing types in West Yorkshire, our team plays a critical role in ensuring that “everyone in West Yorkshire can live in a warm, comfortable, and low-carbon home.” We’re dedicated to driving impactful retrofit projects that accelerate progress, strengthen the supply chain, and foster innovation—all with the goal of reducing domestic CO2e emissions, which currently account for 30% of the region’s carbon footprint. Endorsed by the West Yorkshire Leaders as a priority workstream, alongside Mass Transit and Bus Reform, Home Energy West Yorkshire is integral to the Mayor’s commitment to “Tackle the climate emergency and protect our environment,” while also addressing the Cost of Living crisis by reducing fuel poverty. As part of the Home Energy West Yorkshire team you’ll support various colleagues across multiple projects, providing administrative support in accordance with the organisation’s Prince2 principles. Specifically, you’ll work with our Social Housing Providers to help deliver various grant funding schemes. You’ll play a key role in retrofitting social housing stock to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate C, improving residents' lives by reducing fuel bills and CO2 emissions, while contributing to the Net Zero by 2038 target.
