"A future where everyone with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) can thrive".
Founded in 2001, the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is the UK's only patient-led charity dedicated to supporting people living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
A lifelong condition that affects around 1 in 100 people in the UK, causing painful swelling, stiffness, fatigue, and joint damage. The charity helps adults and young people meet the lifelong practical, physical, and psychological impacts of living with these serious diseases.
NRAS has grown to become a nationally recognised organisation, widely respected across healthcare, policy, and the charity sector. In 2026, we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary, a testament to our resilience and the trust placed in us by patients, families, clinicians, and supporters.
Each year, thousands of people benefit from our helpline, peer support, digital education tools, and advocacy. We campaign tirelessly for better services, earlier diagnosis, and wider recognition of RA and JIA, helping shape access to life-changing treatments and influencing national policy.
