Overview
The developing Hertfordshire Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Team (CJLDT) is recruiting a Band 6 Liaison and Diversion Practitioner (Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, or Learning Disability Nurse). A new post has become available.
Responsibilities
* Provide all-age triage and assessments in police custody and court for individuals with vulnerabilities including mental illness, personality disorder, alcohol and substance use, homelessness, acquired brain injury, learning disabilities, autism, or other speech and language communication difficulties.
* // Following triage and assessment, make recommendations for safe and fair criminal justice processes and outcomes.
* Liaise with a range of professionals including police, probation, solicitors, court judiciary, mental health teams, GP practices, and local authorities to support the respective cases.
* Work across police custody, Magistrates\' Courts, and Crown Court bases (Hatfield and Stevenage) and with Voluntary Attendees as required.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse for Mental Health or Learning Disability and registered with the NMC with a diploma and/or degree.
* Qualified Social Worker with current registration to practice in the UK.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of post-qualifying training and commitment to further professional development.
* Relevant practice educator teaching qualification or registered nurse mentor (or Best Interests Assessor).
Experience
* Previous experience working with adults who may have complex mental health needs and/or other vulnerabilities including alcohol and substance use, acquired brain injury, learning disability, autism, trauma, ADHD, etc.
* Experience in assessment and management of risk, recovery-oriented practice, person-centred planning, safeguarding, and continuous improvement.
* Experience within learning disability services and/or forensic services and with substance misuse services; experience with children who may have mental disorders or who are looked after.
* QI (Quality Improvement) training.
Other requirements
* Appointment subject to successful Police vetting.
* UK professional registration current at the time of application.
