Role Responsibility
Permanent part time contract of 5.98 hours per week. WEDNESDAY ONLY - Hours vary seasonally with core summer hours 8:30am until 4:30pm (term time) and 8:30am until 5:30pm (summer holidays) and in Winter 9:45am until 3:30pm (term time) 9:45am until 4:30pm holidays.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent Country Parks as a Visitor Services and Events assistant.
You will work in the reception and shop area of the Visitor Centre so that visitors receive a warm and professional welcome, an efficient and helpful response to their needs and a retail experience in line with the Country Park setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the reception/information desk providing a public interface, friendly welcome and present a pleasant and helpful manner to the general public at all times.
- Provide a basic First Aid point for visitors experiencing problems and to provide a calm and efficient initial response to issues, escalating as needed to other staff
- Support the delivery of an annual events programme ensuring customer experience is paramount.
- Provide a first class, professional venue hire, birthday party and team building welcome service for all customers
- Provide induction training sessions for new users of the Tramper mobility scooters ensuring that they meet the required standard prior to using the vehicles. Carry out routine pre and post hire inspections of the vehicles logging any maintenance requirements.
- Manage the stock for the site gift shop
- Be responsible for the accurate accounting of all income generated
- Ensure that all visitor information enhances the visitor experience and is always accurate and complete.
- This role involves daily use of computers and phones so a basic knowledge of computing is required.
- A fitness level relevant to the requirements of the job is required. The post does involve lifting boxes and moving stock.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
