Join GE Vernova's Grid Solutions team as a Lead Services Specialist – On Site Services, where you'll take a leading role in delivering maintenance, installation, and repair services for high-voltage electrical equipment across the UK and beyond.
In this role, you'll oversee on-site activities to ensure all service operations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. You'll act as the key interface between project management, engineering, and field teams — ensuring smooth execution, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across all stages of service delivery.
You'll be responsible for coordinating site teams, supervising field technicians, and managing day-to-day operations, from preparing risk assessments and installation documentation to monitoring progress and reporting on project performance. A strong focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) is essential, as is the ability to lead by example and foster a proactive safety culture on every site.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the full installation, maintenance, and commissioning of GIS (Gas-Insulated Substation) systems, ensuring all work meets GE's highest standards of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
* Lead and coordinate site teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
* Uphold the quality and integrity of all build and maintenance processes, including conducting inspections, verifying workmanship, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and technical documentation.
* Manage and close out Nonconformity Projects (NCPs), ensuring timely resolution, accurate documentation, and alignment with internal quality standards.
* Serve as the primary liaison between the GIS Product Unit, Service teams, and customers — resolving product or installation issues promptly and effectively.
* Prepare and deliver regular reports on project progress, technical issues, and resource utilization to the Project Manager and wider management team.
* Conduct investigative site visits to assess equipment condition, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective actions on equipment failures or performance issues.
* Support the development and performance evaluation of GE and subcontractor technicians and apprentices, providing mentorship and promoting a strong safety and quality culture across all activities.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation, including RAMS, variations, NCRs, technical queries, and site instructions, ensuring full traceability in line with GE governance and quality plans.
* Manage budgets and project costs effectively, exercising sound judgment in the use of company funds and resources.
* Maintain up-to-date FSET competence records and ensure personal and team certifications are current.
* Travel extensively across the UK, with occasional assignments overseas as required.
Education/Experience:
Ideally C&G/ONC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
IOSH Managing Safely
* Substation Primary Plant Construction and installation techniques
* Substation secondary wireman experience
* Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and a good understanding of the roles and duties of the Principal Contractor and Contractor
* Be comfortable working at heights and confined spaces.
