The post will suit a mechanical design engineer or project engineer looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of engine design and development. * You will be involved in the concept design, development of hydrogen, diesel and some electrical engine and powertrain systems and components from concept to launch. * Ensuring robust system/component regulations, quality, cost and timing requirements are met. The Role : Mechanical Design Engineer * Working within a dynamic engineering team, you will be involved in end-to-end mechanical design engineering activities (research, concept, 3D design) relating to full engine systems design- Transmissions, cooling, axels, connections, crank shaft, pistons, etc * You will support in-house quality, manufacturing and service teams in resolving complex technical issues that lead to engineering change * Create clean sheet concept designs from first principles. Plan and execute Proof-of-Concept assessment either through test campaign, and/or first principle analysis and simulation * Support product development, ensuring design for assembly and achieving quality in design. * Create engine system and component specifications and designs based on agreed requirements with key stakeholders. * Create and maintain system design guides and relevant design Standard Operating Procedures. About you: Mechanical Design Engineer * You will have a degree in a mechanical engineering discipline, with a sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles * Good grounding in the design of dynamic, moving/rotating equipment: engines, machinery, transmissions, powertrain, gear boxes, motors, robotics, capital equipment, aeroengines etc. * Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels * Demonstratable proficiency in use of 3D Modelling packages with knowledge of mechanical engineering GD&T and manufacturing and assembly processes. (NX, Creo, Catia, SolidWorks etc) * Flexible, adaptable and versatile work ethic with strong problem solving skills * Knowledge of system cooling, thermodynamics, induction systems would be beneficial The company offers excellent training and development with fantastic benefits including bonus, pension, health and 33 days holiday coupled with relocation if required.
