The Role
NHS Lanarkshire Cancer Nursing Service are seeking applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic registered nurses to join their team. Experienced cancer nurses with experience of working strategically at local, regional and national level are invited to apply for this opportunity.
We are seeking individuals who can demonstrate a high level of competence in advanced expert practice, project management, practice development, education, research & development, strategic planning and policy development within the field of cancer care.
The role of the Senior Practice Development Nurse will be to work collaboratively with the Nurse Consultant and Senior Nursing team to develop a person centred culture of learning, research, clinical audit, continuous improvement of patient experience and promoting and supporting staff development, utilising individualised learning portfolios for nurses in cancer services aligned to Transforming Nursing Roles (paper 8), NES NMAHP framework, ACCEND framework and NES Clinical Supervision framework.

What we'll need you to bring
1. A Registered Practitioner on either the NMC or HCPC register
2. At least 5 years post registration experience in a healthcare setting, with at least 3 years in a clinical or educational leadership position (Band 7 or above)
3. Educated to Masters Level
4. Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education or equivalent qualification
5. Able to provide evidence of clinical leadership through involvement in practice development processes
6. Contemporary knowledge of leadership, professional issues and development requirements of the NMAHP workforce
7. Excellent team worker
8. Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge /skills/competencies
Through clinical and academic achievements and experience to date the post holder is required to demonstrate a high level of competence in clinical leadership and ability to provide professional advice, consultancy, project and people management and educational delivery to a range of staff groups.
The post holder will demonstrate a high level of operational performance as a visible and professional leader demonstrating:

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
18. Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
19. Recent experience of working within Cancer Care
20. Experience of working at a strategic level
21. Experience in research and development/practice development environment
22. Experience of working closely with NHS and other national quality bodies
23. Evidence of demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to facilitate these in others
24. Experience of evidence-based practice audit and research
25. Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of related data
26. Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the Health Care Agenda and Cancer
27. Ability to develop benchmarking, evaluation and clinical audit programmes for cancer nursing.
28. Ability to effectively manage change in the face of resistance
29. Demonstrate effective leadership, being capable of establishing direction & purpose, working with cancer nursing team and senior professional team and senior management team
30. Demonstrate a high level of competence in project management, practice development, education, advanced expert practice, research & development, strategic planning and policy development
31. Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA drivers licence

32. Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Cancer Nursing within University Hospital Monklands.
