At EKFB we’re shaping infrastructure for a better tomorrow. All four of our partners – Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall – bring specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high‑speed rail projects.
We’re looking for a Project Technical Lead to join our team based in Milton Keynes.
The main purpose of this role is to lead the technical team within one of the C23 Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), providing guidance and support on all design, engineering and technical assurance requirements, and ensuring compliance with legislation and standards. The project technical team must be adequately resourced, within budget, and capable of delivering on buildability, coordination, and integration across disciplines.
Responsibilities
* Provide overall technical accountability for the design/technical delivery within the section, coordinating all designs involving multiple disciplines.
* Ensure buildability, coordination and integration of the PW with key TW designs, and compliance with contract requirements, technical (CRT), routewide disciplines and consenting programmes.
* Work closely with the Delivery Team to update on technical matters, including changes through the SNC process, consent status, and integration of all accommodation and U&A requirements.
* Set a collaborative working environment and encourage innovation within the IPT to deliver best project outcomes.
* Provide direction and focus for key technical reviews (IDRs, Interface Management, Technical Deep Dives) and implement strategic technical Value Engineering opportunities.
* Support the Technical Disciplines Director in managing technical risk, ensuring key risks are communicated to commercial leads and resolved or escalated promptly.
* Manage temporary and permanent works designer requirements and interfaces, and close audit actions (HS2 audits, certifier audits, quality assurance audits) in a timely manner.
* Review design delivery performance (cost, programme, contract, scope, progress, change, compliance, governance) and support the Technical Delivery Director with commercial management of designers.
* Ensure construction completion certificates are closed out to meet Clause 32 programme and address commercial matters in line with the contract.

EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market‑leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies. We're proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80 km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. Our scope includes 15 viaducts, 5 km of green tunnels, 22 km of road diversions, 67 overbridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation.

About You
Key Skills and Qualifications
* Educated to degree or higher and hold a relevant professional qualification.
* Evidence of sustained Continuing Professional Development.
* Experience in project‑based design management across all project stages, including leading and overseeing design delivery for permanent works, temporary works, utilities, and engineering processes, including overall consents for the works.
* Experience of mega‑projects/programmes in the rail, highways, water or energy sectors.
* Experience of managing the challenges associated with multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Management of commercial aspects of design contracts with a focus on overall performance.
* Understanding of digital engineering and working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
* Strong communication skills at multiple organisational levels, internally and externally.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Driving licence is required for this role.
