About the Role
At Weston Green School, we believe that sport plays a vital role in shaping confident, resilient and well-rounded children.
We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and committed Head of Sport to lead our provision on a part-time basis (three days per week). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about sport, values inclusive participation, and is equally driven to achieve high standards and competitive success.
We are looking for a leader who will act as an ambassador for sport within and beyond the school; someone who can build enthusiasm, raise standards and ensure that every child feels part of the sporting journey.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Vision
6. Lead and develop a clear, ambitious vision for sport at Weston Green School
7. Act as an ambassador for the department, promoting sport internally and externally
8. Foster a culture that balances inclusive participation with competitive ambition
9. Inspire pupils and staff to engage fully in sporting opportunities
Team Leadership
10. Lead, support and develop a team of sports coaches
11. Promote a collaborative and professional team culture
12. Provide guidance, feedback and development opportunities for staff
Sporting Provision
13. Plan and deliver a high-quality, broad and engaging sports programme
14. Ensure all pupils have opportunities to participate, develop skills and experience success
15. Support the identification and development of both emerging and high-performing athletes
Fixtures and Events
16. Organise and oversee fixtures, tournaments and sporting events
17. Communicate fixtures, team selections and logistics clearly and in a timely manner to all stakeholders
18. Build and maintain relationships with other schools and sporting organisations
19. Ensure fixtures are well-planned, inclusive and reflect the school’s values
Operational Responsibilities
20. Manage equipment, facilities and resources effectively
21. Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times
22. Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, events and clubs
Professional Responsibilities
23. Promote the school’s aims, ethos and values at all times
24. Contribute positively to the culture and wider life of the school
25. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school
26. Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
27. Has strong experience in coaching and/or leading school sport
28. Is an organised and proactive communicator, able to keep pupils, parents and colleagues well informed
29. Is passionate about creating an inclusive sporting environment
30. Has the ambition to raise standards and develop competitive opportunities
31. Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
32. Leads with energy, integrity and a clear sense of purpose
This role would suit an experienced coach or teacher looking to take on a leadership role within a supportive and values-driven school.
