The Business and Economics department prides itself on a collaborative approach, and its ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons that are appropriate for the school’s ability range, stretching our brightest students and supporting those for whom a scaffolded approach is appropriate. We pride ourselves on our adaptive teaching techniques.
Teaching and learning is supported by a large archive of teaching resources and departmental examination experience. We use a combination of online resources on our Google Classrooms, supported by print materials where required. We aim to make our subject as ‘real world’ as possible and encourage our students to engage beyond the classroom.
Academic enrichment is an important focus for us, including delivering workshop days, enrichment experiences for younger students and extra-curricular trips; new ideas are always welcomed.
Business and Economics are popular GCSE and A-Level subjects and many students go on to pursue a business or economics-related degree. The department offers the Edexcel GCSE Business and A-level courses. For Economics A-level, it follows the AQA course.
The department will provide a rich array of super curricular opportunities, including the introduction of Business and Economics Societies from September 2026 as we become Queen Elizabeth’s School.
We are looking for talented and ambitious colleagues to join us in this journey. Recent graduates are welcome to apply as are more experienced practitioners. Support will be provided for new entrants to the profession. We are seeking 1.5 FTE therefore candidates wishing to apply for part time hours are welcomed.
