The Residential Child Care Worker provides a safe, supportive home and helps children thrive by working with the team to support home life, education, and life-skills development. The role emphasizes safeguarding, resilience, and a therapeutic approach to care.
Base pay range
Starting salary: £34,719.00 to £36,248.00 per annum, depending on experience. This range is provided by Pebbles Care. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a shift team to provide one-to-one or two-to-one support as required by the child’s needs, including support in home life and school activities.
* Safeguard children and young people and ensure they are cared for in all aspects of daily life (safety, talk time, activities, education, travel, cooking, cleaning, and life skills).
* Drive company vehicles to ensure attendance at appointments, educational activities, and other events; hold a full, valid UK driving licence for manual vehicles (licence from overseas must be converted on offer).
* Based in one home on a full-time basis, with potential to support other homes within the same geographical area as required.

* A starting salary of £34,719.00 to £36,248.00 per annum, depending on experience.
* Full-time roles operate on a rota pattern of one day on (24 hours including sleepover) and two days off (48 hours).
* Your average working hours, including sleepovers, are 56.4 hours per week. Part-time and zero-hour contracts may be available.

Essential qualities

* You must hold a full, valid UK driver’s licence (all homes have well-maintained vehicles).

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient IT skills and experience with Microsoft packages.
Desirable qualities
* Up to 12 months of experience working with children or young adults. (If you have more than 12 months of experience, then our grade two and three level salaries may apply).
* Working towards, or a desire to obtain, Level 3 Diploma relevant to Children and Young People’s Residential workforce (funding may be available).
* Familiar with the Codes of Practice set out by Ofsted.
* An existing PVG / DBS certificate.
