Experience and Qualifications
* Personable and warm approach toward residents' wellbeing.
* City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification.
* Experience leading, motivating and inspiring a team.
* Experience with fresh seasonal food and nutrition.
* Creating a warm and welcoming environment.
* Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
* Experience with front‑of‑house team to set up restaurants to high standards.
* Good understanding of HACCP and COSHH.
* Knowledge of modified diets using IDDSI framework.
Role and Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate and inspire kitchen team.
* Menu development, tailoring around residents.
* Prepare high‑quality wholesome dishes.
* Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch.
* Assist front‑of‑house with dining area setup.
* Work within budget, complete audits and stock control.
* Create warm, efficient and fun environment.
* Recruitment and retention.
* Manage performance of kitchen team and front‑of‑house.
As a Head Chef at Barchester, you will deliver hotel/restaurant standards with full autonomy in menu creation and team development. Our Chef Academy offers annual training to develop skills and support growth. We also provide industry‑recognised apprenticeships and qualifications for those looking to advance.
