We are looking for someone with/without NHS Ophthalmic experience to join a multi-disciplinary team at Furness General Hospital to deliver high quality patient care. The successful candidate will be required to undertake specific ophthalmic assessments following a comprehensive training package. Previous experience using related ophthalmic technology e.g. Humphrey Visual fields Analyser and OCT would be an advantage. You need to be flexible, enthusiastic and committed to bringing the highest level of care to patients. The successful candidate will have the support of the Clinical Team, Nurse-coordinator and the Department Manager. If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you! The Ophthalmic technician will function as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) within the department, to provide a seamless service and high quality care to patients with proximal supervision from a registered member of staff. The post holder will continue to develop and undertake a range of delegated tasks: Be proficient in undertaking Corneal Topography or be prepared to develop the skills to perform the required scans, to assist the Ophthalmologist in the diagnosis and treatment of a number of corneal conditions Be able to competently perform/ be prepared to develop the skills to use the Humphrey automated visual filed machine on patients of all ages, ranging from paediatrics to the elderly and on those who have varying communication skills. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals.
