Chief Information Officer – UK
Role Overview
The CIO UK is responsible for owning, shaping, and delivering the UK technology strategy, ensuring resilient, secure, and high performing digital operations. This role leads the full technology ecosystem across Engineering, Digital Operations, Cyber Security, and Data, with a strong emphasis on people leadership, operational excellence, and business value creation. The CIO acts as a trusted advisor to the business, driving cloud transition, improving speed to market, and embedding an employee first, customer centric approach across all technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy
1. Own and deliver the UK technology strategy, including cloud transition and modernisation of platforms.
2. Manage and optimise the UK technology ecosystem, ensuring scalability, resilience, and performance.
3. Ensure robust, secure, and resilient IT operations across all UK systems and platforms.
4. Maintain high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery capabilities.
5. Protect brand reputation through operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
6. Identify and deliver cost efficiencies while maintaining service quality.
7. Own capital expenditure (Capex) planning and investment governance.
Cyber Security & Resilience
8. Own and lead the UK Cyber Security strategy, protecting client, partner, and consumer data.
9. Strengthen cyber posture through security by design principles across platforms and engineering practices.
10. Lead incident response, risk mitigation, and ongoing threat monitoring.
11. Ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements and global information security standards.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
12. Drive proactive risk management and service performance monitoring.
13. Ensure compliance with Group IS&T policies and local UK regulations.
14. Manage technology budgets and vendor relationships effectively.
15. Improve IT service management (ITSM), change management, and governance processes.
People & Organisational Leadership
16. Serve as a visible and credible technology leader across the UK business.
17. Lead Engineering, Digital Operations, Information Security, and Data leadership teams.
18. Build, coach, mentor, and develop high performing technology teams.
19. Evolve team structures and capabilities to meet current and future business needs.
20. Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
21. Champion an employee first mindset and shape an outstanding employee experience.
Business Partnership & Advisory
22. Act as a strategic advisor to senior stakeholders on technology, risk, and digital transformation.
23. Deeply understand the customer journey and translate it into strong technology value propositions.
