Job Title: Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer
Location: Southend & Basildon (Primary Sites)
Reports To: Contracts Manager / Service Manager
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer to support our hospital contracts at Southend University Hospital and Basildon University Hospital.
This role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, servicing, and breakdown response on a wide range of air conditioning systems within a busy hospital environment.
The successful candidate will be based at the hospital sites approximately 80% of the working week, with the remaining 20% supporting other contracts across London and the South East.

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all AC systems.
* Diagnose and repair faults on a range of air conditioning equipment.
* Respond to breakdowns in a timely and professional manner.
* Service and maintain systems including (but not limited to):
o Split systems
o VRV/VRF systems
o AHUs
o FCUs
o Chillers (where qualified)
* Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with current regulations and health & safety standards.
* Complete all required documentation, service reports, and certification accurately.
* Liaise with hospital estates teams and site management professionally.
* Participate in call-out rota (if applicable).
* Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good condition.

Working Environment
* 80% based at Southend and Basildon hospital contracts.
* 20% supporting additional commercial contracts across London and the South East.
* Working within live hospital environments where professionalism, discretion, and adherence to strict compliance procedures are essential.

Skills & Experience Required
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (or equivalent).
* Valid F-Gas Certification (Category 1 preferred).
* Proven experience working on commercial AC systems.
* Experience within healthcare or critical environments desirable.
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
* Full UK driving licence.
