We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking, and results-driven Data Engineer to join our Grid Innovation team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure and data pipelines for effective data collection, processing, storage, and analysis supporting AI/ML applications in the energy domain.
Experience in the energy sector, smart infrastructure, or industrial automation is essential, as this role supports AI-driven innovation in mission-critical systems with high regulatory and operational complexity.
As part of the CTO organization, reporting to the AI Leader, you will collaborate with Grid Automation (GA) product lines, R&D teams, product management, and other GA functions. You will develop scalable and unified data frameworks to address customer problems and enable rapid prototyping and deployment at the edge and in the cloud.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Design and maintain database architectures, schemas, and data models for grid innovation and energy system applications.
2. Utilize efficient data storage technologies (e.g., Relational Databases, Data Lakes, NoSQL) to ensure scalable and secure data access.
3. Build, optimize, and maintain reliable data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and feature extraction from various sources.
4. Develop and manage integrations with internal and external data sources and APIs.
5. Identify new datasets to enhance product capabilities and decision-making.
6. Automate data workflows for diverse formats and operational needs.
7. Monitor and enhance the performance and scalability of data systems.
8. Implement data governance policies and quality checks to ensure data integrity.
9. Collaborate with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver ready-to-use datasets.
10. Work with product management and R&D teams to develop innovative data solutions supporting product development.
Must-Have Requirements:
1. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field focusing on data engineering or electric power engineering.
2. Proven experience in the energy sector, smart infrastructure, or industrial automation.
3. Hands-on experience in building and managing data pipelines.
4. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one other programming language used in data engineering (e.g., Scala, Java).
5. Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
6. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
7. Experience with ETL processes and automating data pipelines.
8. Effective communication skills and adaptability to dynamic environments.
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
1. Additional experience in data engineering or designing scalable data solutions.
2. Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop, Kafka, Spark.
3. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
4. Hands-on experience with data warehousing technologies like Snowflake or Redshift.
