Principal Engineer - Combat Systems (External Communications)
Frimley (Hybrid 2-3 days onsite) 12-month contract | 37 hrs/week £57.00 per hour (PAYE) Dreadnought Programme
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer - External Communications to support delivery of external communications systems within the Submarine Combat Systems domain on the Dreadnought Programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead systems engineering activities for maritime external communications systems
Derive and manage technical and functional requirements from User Needs, CONOPS and CONUSE
Define system architectures, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
Provide technical authority, SME input, and guidance across design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning
Support supplier management, verification, testing, and customer acceptance
Identify engineering risks, report progress, and support recovery and change activities
Skills & Experience:
Strong background in maritime defence external communications systems
Experience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle
Platform and ideally sea-going experience (build, trials, operations, or in-service support)
Excellent stakeholder communication skills
Strong awareness of Product Safety and SHE
