How does this role contribute to our collective success?
* AXIS is a global leader in the insurance of renewable energy assets via a large and experienced team of Underwriters with its own dedicated Engineering team. By joining the Engineering team, this role will directly support the AXIS Global Energy business line's targets on both Gross Written Premium and Loss Ratio by providing expert engineering advice to our underwriters in the provision of insurance to renewable energy builders and operators.
* Your in-depth knowledge of wind, solar, battery storage and other renewable assets ('risks') will ensure risks are not written which have an unacceptably high risk of losses based on your review of the technical aspects of the risk. You will also support "lessons learned" analysis of closed claims and deliver insights to our underwriters to enable an informed underwriting approach that is cognizant of known defects and quality issues. This will directly benefit the business's loss ratio targets.
* The purpose of the role is to bolster the existing Engineering function within Global Energy and drive our position as a global leader renewable energy risk partnering. Success will be measured in accordance with GWP and loss ratio targets for Global Energy and specifically through the informed underwriting and pricing decisions that are made based upon your engineering advice. You will also present externally and internally on how risk engineering expertise can drive best practice into the development, manufacturing and construction of renewable energy projects by learning the lessons of the past for all stakeholders.
What will you do in this role?
* You will support the AXIS Global Energy underwriters with technical guidance on renewable risk submissions, with a focus on offshore wind, solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and onshore wind farms.
* You will attend third part risk surveys carried out by AXIS contractors at renewable energy projects insured by AXIS.
* You will attend site visits with brokers and insureds throughout the UK and Europe to suggest improvements and thereby reduce the risk of damage or breakdown.
* The Global Energy engineering team is unique in applying a data-driven approach to its risk engineering services. You will support the analysis of legacy AXIS claims to identify statistically significant trends and communicate this to our underwriters so they can avoid, or adequately price future risks which could suffer similar losses.
* Assist the AXIS Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Transformation Service (BTS) in the ongoing work to build a market-leading automated claims analysis and visualization platform based on the above claims database.
* You will participate in broker meetings with Globel Energy underwriters to provide insights on design, construction and operational risk management to existing and potential insureds.
* Present publicly and provide thought leadership pieces via AXIS Marketing and Communication Team to maintain AXIS's standing as the leading insurer of renewable energy projects globally.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
